ACTATE was proud to present awards to our winning writers at this year’s LitLinks Awards Ceremony today.
This year there was a 41% increase in entries, with 172 entries from ACT Government, Independent and Catholic schools. Each student who entered will receive a book voucher from our main sponsor, Paperchain Books in Manuka. Additional prizes were provided by ACT Doorland, Marion (formerly ACT Writers), the Canberra Writers Festival and the Rotary Club of Woden Daybreak.
Some interesting points:
- Two thirds of entries came from ACT Government Schools and this is reflected in the awards.
- Daramalan College and Canberra High School both won three major awards.
- University of Canberra Senior Secondary College Lake Ginninderra won 2 major awards.
- St. John Paul II College, Narrabundah College, Lake Tuggeranong College and Belconnen High School all won major awards for the first time this year.
- Skye Mitry from Kingsford Smith School won the Speculative Fiction award as a year 8 student last year and has won the same award this year as a year 9 student.
- Patrick Wenholz has won the Teachers as Writers award twice – in 2022 and this year. He runs the writing group at Canberra High School.
Congratulations to all the students and teachers who entered this year. Click here to read the winning entries.
